This place generally has great waiters and waitresses but I was there the other night and the head chef was yelling at one of the greaters at the restaurant in the front of the restaurant in front of everyone. The head chef needs to get a grip and watch his temper as this will prevent us from returning to the restaurant. He was scolding the greater for bringing a cup of coffee up to the front entrance and yelled at him "Why don't you answer the fucking phone instead?". Cursing and yelling in front of patrons is a huge no no in the industry. The head chef there (a white guy with black hair) needs to be reprimanded and muzzled. If I wanted to see people getting yelled at I would have stayed at home for dinner. The food here is also just mediocre.

We had the best service yet, since visiting the island. The food was great, especially the lasagna & fried zucchini. We had the best server who quickly became known as "uncle Steve" to my 8yr old daughter. He was so friendly & took the extra time to go over things with us & always made sure my daughter felt like a princess. When we got in the car, my daughter said, "that was like another fun activity with a bonus dinner!" We will return & ask for Steve!

This is a pretty standard Carrabba's- the service was ok, the food pretty good. I had salmon with some pretty delish mashed potatoes. The bread is great and my son's kid pizza was pretty tasty. We took half of it home for lunch the next day. This is a good place if you are still trying to get a feel for the Island as we were and didn't have our bearings yet. Otherwise, the Island is abudant with non-chains, yummy seafood and local cuisine, which is divine.

*See the last line of this review for the shortened version.* If you have ever been to a Carrabba's Italian Grill, then you already know what you are getting involved in, if you haven't, then continue reading my review if you can find light underneath the rock you've been living under. (Who hasn't been to Carrabba's?) This particular Carrabba's always has a wait, normally about 30-45 minutes depending on the night. When you sit down, the bread and olive oil/spice mix they give you will make you want more, so ask for it. I always do. On this particular night, I ordered the house salad and the Pollo Rosa Maria, which is chicken sliced open with fontina cheese and prosciutto added inside, then cooked again to seal it. Delicious. I have ordered the Chicken Bryan previously, which is unbelievably delicious as well. You can't go wrong with either of them. For dessert, my father ordered the bread pudding and didn't let anyone else grab a bite, but did say that it was one of the best he's EVER had. Since he loves desserts, that is quite the compliment. I ordered the John Cole to split and it was better than my entire meal. Since this was the first dinner of the week I spent in Hilton Head, I almost walked to Carrabba's a few times during the week just to get this dessert one more time. It's that good. It's Carrabba's and it's good. That's all I really needed to say for this review actually.

Do not order a steak from this restaurant I ordered a Filet and got a strip. Send it back to the kitchen it came back worse. They are used to the Tourist crowd so they don't have to worry about their product.

Had a great evening here. Sat at the Chef's table. What a fun time! Thank you Tony, Brad, Jesse, Dante and all the other hard hard working people who made for such a good time! These people can turn a good dining experience into a great one.

I went here on Friday night with all my family. We were on vacation together from Atlanta. I will start with saying we were a large group of eight with no young children. We were seated right away, which was nice. The waiter was Mike, he was friendly. It took too long to get our drinks, I believe they were under staffed and our waiter had more tables then he should have. The drinks were good, we had anything from wine, lemonaide, soda and waters. Unfortunately the waiter didn't have time to refill drinks. When our food came out we were missing two dishes. It took so long getting the food for two people everyone else started eating and almost finished before the two dishes finally came out. The food was great, wish they were staffed appropriately.

Went to Carrabas because it was close to where we were staying and because I'd heard good things in general and never been. It was a great experience. We were seated immediately, it reminded me a bit of an Olive Garden but nicer. Our server was great and did a great job informing us of the bar specials. I had the peach sangria and it was yummy. We ordered the calamari with both sauces. The lemon butter sauce was spectacular. I also had a filet that was cooked to perfection and it came with scallops and shrimp on the side as one option. I also ordered an additional side of fettuccine Alfredo that was devine. No room for desert :( but would have tried it if I could have.

We entered this place and the hostess appeared to be on drugs. Very sluggish with hickies all over her neck, it was horrible. Then it took 10 -15 minutes for the waitress 'Ashley' to approach our table and greet us, note we were the only couple in the establishment at the time as well. The waitress was rude and did not know what was on the menu and had to go and ask. When she returned we informed her of the items on their menu and she took our order, we then asked about dessert and she walked away, when we said can we order dessert also she turned around obviously annoyed with our question and slammed the menu down onto the table and said, did you want dessert first? Now? Befor your meal? We were completely disgusted with not only the service but the table we were seated at was dirty with sticky residue all over it. We got up and left the establishment promptly befor continuing our order, we will never return to this establishment ever again. Waste of time and money! Gross!

I arrived at my villa to find a well-equipped kitchen. However, the fridge and my cupboard were bare, so I ate out Sunday night with the anticipation of grocery shopping early Monday morning. I ordered the Tuscan filet, a 9-oz center-cut tenderloin wood grilled with a baste of olive oil and herbs. I returned on Tuesday night and enjoyed Chicken Bryan, a chicken breast topped with goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, basil and lemon butter sauce, with Cavatappi ai Formaggi (a delicious pasta dish). Desserts [Sogno di Cioccolata (chocolate dream) and tiramisù] were memorable. The presentation and taste of the food were very satisfactory. Service was courteous and prompt. My server demonstrated very satisfactory knowledge of the menu. At the end of the meal, my server thanked me for dining and welcomed me back. However, I have observed that restaurants that earn the highest levels of customer satisfaction greet customers on their way out as well as on their way in. I dined at this restaurant twice this week. On both occasions, the host and hostess were too busy chatting with each other to acknowledge me as I exited.

Went here last night for dinner. We waited ten minutes and that was only because my husband got up to get the manager and ask for some service. The manager was great and apologized for the delay, he took our order right away. The manager must have sent a better server who was really nice, fast, apologetic. Food was really good, as I would have expected because of the delay. We love carabbas, but sometimes the delay in service makes me want to take a break from them.

On vacation on Hilton Head Island and we ate a a chain restaurant. Well, we're not disappointed. Food was excellent, even a great wood fired grilled filet mignonette! I must say, that's something you have to try.

The food here was pretty good. The portion sizes are asleep very good. Most of the entrees come with two sides, which gives you a great variety of choices. I had a cheese stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes and a lentil and sausage soup for my sides. The food was phenomenal, the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because we didn't like our waitress. I won't go in to detail about that but, the food is worth the stop, especially in an island where everything is overpriced.

Terrible, rude service. It took 15 minutes for a waitress to come to our table, quickly took our drink order and left even as I was trying to order an appetizer, saying "not now, I'll be back." She left our glasses empty so long that I had to get up and find her to get refills and when I did, she was extremely rude for the rest of the time that we were there.

Awesome food and always a good experience. We have never had bad service or a bad meal at this place and we usually eat here every time we're on vacation here. Our kids love it too.

Excellent family experience! Fresh food and great ambience. The calamari was tasty but the soups are a MUST HAVE. SO DEELISH! Salads are so fresh too. We had the sirloins and salmon meals and the garlic mashed on side and we each cleaned our plates. . The kiddie meals are incredible value too that offer healthy and grown up options vs just Mac and cheese and chicken fingers! Oh, our waitress (attractive fun spirited red head) replenished each of our drinks before we even asked! And not intrusive just somewhat "psychic". Lol. Enjoy!

This is the worst dining experience that I have had in numerous years. We get here and wait over twenty minutes for our drink order to be taken. Ten minutes later we got our drinks. Not to mention our food order was totally messed up. The sad part was that the food ended up being quite good but the service just left a bad taste in our mouths.

We wanted seafood but we didn't want to deal with crazy parking or $35 entrees. We ended up here and the food was very good. My 6 year old son really enjoyed the kids menu. It kept him busy during the short wait for our food.

We have come to vacation on HH frequently. The last time we went to this restaurant the food and service were great. It was so good that we went to this restaurant 3 times. This year it was very disappointing. The food was so so. The sauce was salty. The waitress was horrible. The service was extremely poor. So disappointed, will not go back.

I have always had excellent service from Carrabba's, until tonight. We were seated immediately, but had to wait over twenty minutes to order our drinks and another ten to get them. We almost got up and left, and I have never walked out of a restaurant. Appetizers did not come to the table at the same time, nor did soup and salad. Then when the entrees came, my friend's order was wrong. The food, once we received it, was excellent, with the exception of the caprese. The tomatoes were sliced very thin, and it was lacking in flavor. That may have been just a personal preference and I wouldn't even worry about commenting about it if the service hadn't been so terrible. We didn't bother to ask for the manager since our waitress took the time to tell us he was having a stressful night when my friend asked for his bill to be corrected. I travel to Hilton Head at least once a month for business. I will continue to eat at the Carrabba's near home, but I will not return to this one. It's disappointing since Carabba's is usually so consistently good when it comes to both food and service.

Worst Carrabba's ever! We dined in once and did carside another time. We can't decide which time was worse. I worked for this company for five years and this particular one in HHI is terrible. It's pretty safe to assume no one has been properly trained. You get better service at McDonalds. Save your time and money!

My aunt said this was one of the worst experiences eating out ever. I didn't think it was good, but I've had worse. :-) My cousin ordered a flight of wines which were delivered quickly enough - rather too quickly in fact as the server spilled two of them. After that, she seemed much more concerned about getting fresh wine than getting us napkins to wipe up the mess with - we had to ask twice. When my cousin did get the wines, there were dead gnats in two of the three glasses. Our first bread delivery was completely raw in the middle - fresh dough anyone? The Caesar salads were overdressed and weepy. Our main course dishes (all specials) were decent but nowhere near good enough to convince us to ever go back.

Prior to living in Hilton Head, we have lived in both Georgia and Colorado, where we became big fans of Carrabbas. Over the past 1 1/2 years, this restaurant has steadily gone down hill, and has now been excluded from our list of restaurants that we will visit. From being served raw (yes--red in the middle) chicken, to just plain horrible tasting food, we have run the gamut with bad experiences at this particular Carrabbas. We will not be returning here, even though Carrabbas was our favorite for years. So very disappointing.....

Networking in High Heels of Hilton Head ( networkinginhighheels.com ) meets here every month for lunch. We love the food and the wait staff is excellent. Many times, my husband and I stop in for dinner. My hubby loves the Pasta Weisie ... we enjoy it every time.

Let's see where do I start? I think my 1st mistake was to sit and eat an hour before closing. Right away you can tell the server wasn't in the mood to wait another table. We were rushed to order our drinks and meal, even though the rest of my party wasn't at the table. The 1st course consisted of bread and herb oil, which wasn't bad. Would have been better if the server wasn't reaching over my aunt 's face each time she wanted to remove/place something on the table. After a weak so called chicken soup, our main course came. SUCH a ;(...... I ordered stuffed chicken & spinach which was a very sad dish. There was no life to this food. Very salty and unappealing to the eye. My little girl stuck with something simple (spaghetti) so we thought. Never seen dry spaghetti from a restaurant, and neither has she. Felt good to hear "like your spaghetti better daddy". My aunt meal looked as though it was soaked over night in olive oil and just jabbed onto the plate. I ordered chicken fingers and mash for my son..what a mistake that was. The dish came out crazy hot! Way to hott for it to be a meal for a kid. His mash was a ice cream scoop of oil and garlic. Waste of money. By the end of the meal my aunt wasn't feeling this meal so she wanted to let the server know. Oh our server wanted nothing to do with us..."Nothing I can do for ya Hun...let me get the manager". Bottom line is, for this to be my 1st time, not a good palette pleaser. Oh forgot to tell about the crazy white object/foam floating in my wife's water, which was taken away but wasn't replaced nor a "sorry about that". Our server seem to have no clue about anything going on @ HER place of employment. For this place to be located in Hilton Head, it was just a sad, sad display of Italian grill. SMH

Very disappointed - went on a Monday for the Amore Special and had to ask the waiter for the the special menu. He went searching and returned with it only to try to dissuade us from ordering from it because the portions were "HALF SIZED". Well he was right even though they were the same price as the regular menu they gave you one appetizer and one half sized dessert. The food was not good - wife's lobster ravioli was filled with a creamy tasteless mush and my tiny portion of lasagna and burnt 1/4 inch thick piece of chicken parm was covered with a tasteless white goop. This included a small portion of previous cooked frozen and reheated spaghetti - now I know that restaurants sometimes reheat the pasta but it usually tastes fine at other places. We will never return to any Carrabas!

Usually not much of a chain restaurant person. Friends took us to Carrabba's for the first time a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly suprised. The sevice was awesome - they're so good with kids, even though the place was rocking. I had the Pasta Carrabba - basically Fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken, pees and mushrooms. It was so good that I HAD to finish all of it even though it's pretty filling. The pizza was good too and so were the kids dishes. All in all a great place to go. Is it a chain? Yes. But this is not your typical, mass-produced Olive Garden type restaurant.

Started out with the hostess forgetting about us waiting on the patio. After 50 minutes we sent someone in to ask about our seats and they found a half empty restaurant with half of the staff hanging around the hostess stand. I guess the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Then before we were seated hearing a waiter talk to a bartender about an order for " table stupid." This was my first visit to Carrabbas on the island for dinner. I'm a local and so far I'm not impressed with my decision to eat at the chain. For the money we spent, we could have had a nice meal at CQ's or Il Carpaccio. The waitress did a good job with our group, for the record, but the food came out cold and with missing parts. Granted we were one of the last 18 tables at the restaurant (I counted) and they were aware of the fact that we were in line for a table at 8:40 on July 4th weekend (on a resort island) which should raise eyebrows to the level of service one should expect from a chain restaurant. We were never offered dessert and every chance the waitress got to say, "it's the end of the night," she did. We felt hurried and ignored. At one point, an entree came out with the salads cold. We sent it back and watched the chef throw around pots and pans, angry that he had to remake it. I heard the waitress say to the food runner, that it was suppose to be on hold. How cold would it have been had it arrived with the others? I'm very disappointed that everyone in my group had to pay for mediocre cold Italian food, to be treated poorly, and to generally not be able to enjoy a nice evening out. With all the problems, the waitress still auto grated. I'm in F+B and even if it's not my fault, I would NEVER autocrat after a guests experience like that.

Our pizza was undercooked and doughy. The manager offered to replace it and take it off the menu. She was awesome. In our view, the pasta dishes were unexceptional and lacked any authentic flavor. Umm, me thinks we won't return.

Great service, if you're going on a Friday try to avoid peak hours because they fill up fast. Great food, menu is a little limited but you can't go wrong with anything on it.

This was my first Carrabba's Experience ever. I was expecting an Olive Garden, but ended up with much better. Unlimited fresh & warm bread is served right after you are seated, which could have been a meal in itself. I ordered the Chicken Marsala, which was absolutely delicious, tasting more like steak than chicken. Each dish comes with a side of pasta and a salad. I nearly licked my plate clean and left the restaurant wishing I had more room in my stomach only to stuff it full once again.

Service poor. Pasta undercooked. Noodles tasted like they were made with flour instead of semolina. Quality and service less than other Carrabba's we have experienced. Don't bother going.

Carrabba's is always good but I'm trying to figure the point of the call ahead "reservation" system. We called at 4:00 pm Monday to get our name on the list for a 7:30 table for 5 people. We arrive at 7:30 and there were quite a few parking spots in the lot and only two groups of people waiting outside and two or three groups inside. We thought - great, it won't be long to get a table. The hostess told us it would be 15 to 20 minutes, so we sat at the bar and had a glass of wine. After 40 minutes, the bar tender was curious as to why we had been there so long and we said we had called ahead. She was surprised and treated us to two antipasti. We got a table after 50 minutes. I'm pretty sure that when you call ahead, they do not actually put your name on a list, but wait until you arrive and just add it then so there is no actual advantage to calling ahead. So when you call and they give you a time, what they are really saying is "you're wasting your breath, sucker, it won't make any difference!"

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
